Studebaker autos were present on the speed courses of the United States and around the world beginning with the 1903 Studebaker Model A.

The establishment of NASCAR in 1949 saw Studebaker participation lead by Ralph Zrimsek. The exciting introduction of the V8 engine in 1951 resulted in winning pole positions, races and strong finishes by Frank Mundy, Danny Weinberg, Gayle Warren George Seeger , and Elmo Langley among others.
